CT 17: Bangladesh Post Low Total of 182 Runs Against Aussies

Oval, England (June 5, 2017): One of Bangladesh’s worst ODI batting performances in recent years has made situation really fragile for the team. Except Tamim and Shakib, who scored 95 and 29 respectively, none of them could perform well and the whole team could hardly gather 182 against the world’s best side Aussies. Both Australia and Bangladesh need a win to stay alive in the tournament after not getting the best start.

Australia are all set to take on Bangladesh in Group A match at the Oval. Bangladesh are coming into the game after a defeat against hosts England who thumped them in the opening match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Steve Smith’s troops too had a disappointing start of the tournament against New Zealand. Though, the match was abandoned due to rain and the points were equally shared between the two sides, the two-time champions had little positives to take from the day.

The Aussies would now be looking to turn fortunes for themselves in this match against Bangladesh.

Mitchell Starc tore into the Bangladesh lower order. When he was brought back into the attack, Bangladesh were 181/6. When he was done with them, they had lost the rest of their wickets for 182. Tamim Iqbal was the only man who performed for Bangladesh scoring 95 while Starc ended with four wickets to his name.

TEAMS:

AUSTRALIA: Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.

BANGLADESH: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain
