CWC 19: How Much Every Team Earned as ‘Prize Money’?

WEB DESK: The dramatic end to the ICC World Cup 2019 left many in joy and others in tears after England were crowned World Champions for the first time by beating New Zealand on more boundaries in a match and in Super Over at Lord’s.

At the start of the tournament, ICC declared a total prize money pool of US $10 million. Let’s have a look at the prize money.

The winner England has been awarded $4,000,000 prize money, which is the highest till date. Also, the runner-up and the semi-finalists were rewarded handsomely.

The Runner-up New Zealand filled their kitty with more than $2 million, while the other two semifinalists – India and Australia – took home $1.1 million and $1.08 respectively.

Pakistan received $100,000 for finishing fifth in the points table and another $200,000 for winning five games while Sri Lanka won prize money of $220,000 for their performance in the tournament.

South Africa, who had the disastrous World Cup campaign, get $240,000 for their performance in the showpiece event of cricket.

Bangladesh played some brilliant cricket in this tournament. They awarded $220,000 for showing fighting spirit throughout the mega-event.

West Indies were expected to be a tough contender for the top-four but finished second last on the points table, unfortunately. Windies received $180,000.

Afghanistan lost all the nine games that they played in the World Cup 2019 and thus they get only $100,000 as their prize money.
