The impact of Okchi cyclone is expected to be felt in Sindh area today and tomorrow. However, hundreds of Pakistani fishermen are still continuing with their trade in deep sea water because they have not been warned about the cyclone.

According to the Met Department Okchi will start heading towards the coastal areas of Sindh province from today. However, Okchi’s intensity would be lessened by the time it will enter Pakistan.

The cyclone will manifest in the form of clouds in Karachi, Thatta, and Badin areas of Sindh along with gushing 10-20 kilometers winds. Light rains are expected to lash Mirpur Khas Division.

The intensity of the cyclone is forecast to begin lessening by December 4.

Hundreds of uninformed and thus unaware fishermen from Thatta, Badin, and Sajawal coastal areas are plying their trade at sea because the admistration of these areas remained unaware of the cyclone and the threats that it poses to the fishermen at sea in particular.

Families and relatives of the fishermen say that they were provided any information about the cyclone in advance.

Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country during the next 48 hours. However, rain-thunderstorms with gusty winds (snowfall over the hills) is expected at scattered places in Malakand division while at isolated places in Hazara, Mardan divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and Kashmir. Shallow foggy conditions are likely over few plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours.
