Defence, Martyrs Day’s Main Ceremony To Be Held At GHQ

Rawalpindi (September 06, 2018): The main ceremony of the defence day will be held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi (GHQ) from 8 pm to 10 pm today to pay tributes to the martyrs and express gratitude with their families. 

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be Chief Guest on the occasion.

The ceremony will be attended by Army Chief, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, services chiefs, Ministers, Senators, MNAs, ambassadors, diplomats, military and civilian officials and people from various walks of life.

Meanwhile, change of guard ceremonies were held at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi and at Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore.

During the ceremony at the Quaid’s mausoleum, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force assumed guard duties.

In Lahore, Garrison Commander Major General Muhammad Aamir laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha.

A ceremony to mark defence day was held at Malir Garrison, which was attended by Corps Commander Karachi, Governor and Chief Minister Sindh.

Peshawar is also paying tribute to the martyrs of the defence day, ceremony held at Col. Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium.

Meanwhile, a special ceremony to mark Defence Day is in progress at Fortress Stadium in Lahore under the aegis of Pakistan Army.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar is the Chief Guest on the occasion. Addressing on the occasion, Sarwar paid rich tributes to the martyrs.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Aamir Riaz attended the ceremony.

On the other hand, Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit at the memorial of martyred.
