Defiant Ishaq Dar Chairs FBR Meeting

Islamabad (September 28, 2017): Indicted in National Accountability Bureau’s reference,  filed against him for allegedly possessing assets beyond known sources of income, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Chaired a meeting of Federal Board of Revenue and expresses satisfaction over the collection of tax revenue.

Finance minister was briefed over the campaign launched regarding tax collections and to increase tax returns in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2017-18.

Chairman FBR apprised meeting that FBR taking step to increase tax revenues as more than one hundred thousand tax returns were collected between July 1 to September 28 while during the same duration of the previous year only 54000 tax returns were collected.

Meeting has decided to extend the date of relaxation of point four per cent withholding tax  for non filers in dealing with banks from September 30 to December 31.

Finance Minister lauded the efforts of tax officials for the collection of tax revenues.

The Accountability Court on Wednesday indicted Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the National Accountability Bureau’s reference filed for allegedly possessing assets beyond known sources of income.

Judge Accountability Court Mohammad Bashir indicted Dar in the reference filed on the instructions of Supreme Court in Panamagate verdict.
