Islamabad (November 13, 2017): The Council of Common Interests (CCI) will meet today in Islamabad with a one-point agenda — the Provisional Census Report-2017.
The Council meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The meeting will also be attended by chief ministers of all the four provinces among other members.
The meeting will discuss Provisional Census Report and the draft bill of delimitation in the light of the provisional census result.
The meeting was convened after opposition parties especially PPP refused to support the delimitation bill, urging the government to take it to CCI and get its approval.
Sindg government have raised reservations about the provisional results of the population census. Besides Pakistan People’s Party-led Sindh government, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, which is the second largest party in the assembly, is also of the opinion that the census figures do not reflect Karachi’s actual population.
