ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Friday said that Parliamentarians came to Parliament to solve the problems of masses not to fight each others.
Addressing a ceremony to inaugurate a monument built to remember those who sacrificed their lives for democracy, Sadiq said that yesterday incident in the Parliament had lowered his head in shame.
Sadiq called upon adopting the policy of tolerance in the Parliament and everywhere else. “We have to strengthen democracy through our behavior,” he urged.
The memorial, located in the lawn of the Parliament, has been built to honour those who laid down their lives while upholding the principles of democracy. The ceremony was attended among others by members of Parliament and other high officials.
Addressing the ceremony Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani said that people from every walk of life played their role for restoration of democracy. “Today’s democracy is due to their sacrifices,” he added.
He called upon pledging to strengthening democracy and democratic institutions.
