AIG Hamid Shakeel Among 3 Martyred in Quetta Blast

Quetta (November 09, 2017): A senior police officer among three policemen were martyred in a bomb attack on Airport Road in the provincial metropolis here.

The convoy of AIG Hamid Shakeel was targeted in the blast on Airport Road near an under-construction building.

As a result the senior police officer and two other policemen were martyred, while six other including three passersby were injured.

The vehicle of the police office was completely damaged in the blast while two other vehicle were also partially damaged. Soon after the blast, police and FC personnel rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. The injured policemen were rushed to Combined Military Hospital for treatment along with three passersby, who were also injured in the blast.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Shakeel and two policemen were pronounced dead while six of the injured are being treated there.Security sources said that investigation was underway to ascertained the nature of the blast. They said that it was being ascertained the whether the blast was suicidal or was carried out through time or remote-controlled device.

Sources said AIG Shakeel’s vehicle was targetted as soon as the officer left his residence in the Chaman Housing Scheme, situated close to other government officials’ residences.

Sources said that apparently the blast seemed to be suicide attack.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri strongly condemned the blast. Zehri sought report from police over the attack.

He directed the authorities to ensure best treatment facilities to policemen and civilian injured in the blast.
