Disallowing Maryam Nawaz From Traveling Abroad Shows Supremacy Of law: Babar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior representative Dr Babar Awan on Monday said that the incumbent government will never permit any convict to leave the country.

The former law minister Babar Awan was addressing press conference in Islamabad. Criticising the PML-N leadership, Babar said that all those who were sick became well as soon as they reached London. He said the government expects the political leaders facing corruption charges to tell the truth in the courts.

Furthermore, He clarified PTI has not done any politics on the matter of ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif adding that disallowing Maryam Nawaz from traveling abroad shows supremacy of the law.

He said the government did not politicize Nawaz Sharif’s health issue. “It is the core committee’s decision to not allow a convicted person to travel abroad.”

He said that the government’s decision to not allow Maryam Nawaz to travel abroad is in line with the procedure of law.

He said, “We have to make the parliament a voice of the poor people and not merely a house of speeches.”

Babar Awan said a plea to challenge the special court’s judgment can be submitted in a higher court in absence of Pervez Musharraf in high treason case.

He said that there is a judgment on record by Justice Irshad which states that a person can challenge a verdict in a court in his absence.
