Folk Singer Allan Faqir’s 17th Death Anniversary Today

Karachi (July 4, 2017): The 17th death anniversary of distinguished folk singer Allan Faqir is being observed with fond remembrance today.

The voice of Allan Faqir whose rendition of Sufi verses continues to mesmerize the people still today was the representative artist of Pakistan’s traditional  folk singing.

The real name of  Allan Faqir, who was born in Jamshoro in 1932, was Ali Bukhsh Sindhi. For a long time Allan Faqir remained associated with Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television where he sang many folk songs in his melodious silky voice.

Allan Faqir was decorated with Presidential Medal for Excellence by the Government of  Pakistan in 1987. He was bestowed with Life Achievement Award by Pakistan Television in 1999.

The great artist died on July 4, 2000. He lies in eternal peace at the courtyard of his home in Sindh University Colony in Jamshoro.
