Islamabad(April 17, 2018): Opposition leader in National Assembly has said doors of talks are not closed for any party including Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to the newsmen in Islamabad on Tuesday, Khursheed Shah said that want to take everyone on board, doors of talks are not closed for any party including Nawaz Sharif.
Over the caretaker setup, Shah said that he has informed the government that the name of the caretaker PM should be finalised by May 15.
“Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and I will collectively make the decision pertaining to the caretaker PM,” he shared.
He also said that he was holding discussions with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, however, when he contacted the party members there was no response.
He shared that he heard about the nominations put forward by PTI for the caretaker setup through media.
“What’s the point of meeting them now? Although I am shocked at the names announced by them,” he added.
The opposition leader said that there should be no restriction on the freedom of expression. If freedom of expression is curbed in a democratic state, then what difference will there be between democracy and dictatorship, he asked.
He added that freedom of expression should not be exercised against the governing institutions, adding that even the law doesn’t permit it.
On April 11, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah held discussion pertaining to the setup of the caretaker government, which will take over once the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government completes its tenure in end May.
This is the third meeting between the two leaders to discuss the interim setup to be installed after the PML-N led government expires on May 31.
The opposition leader reached PM House Wednesday morning to hold the third meeting with the premier over the matter.

The prime minister shared the opinion of the government and its allies with the opposition leader on the name of the caretaker prime minister.
On the same very day, Khursheed Shah met with Shah Mehmmod Qureshi of PTI, and discussed the interim setup in the country.
Shah took Qureshi into confidence over his meeting with the prime minister. He shared that the opposition should start finalizing their names of the post of caretaker PM.

It is pertinent to mention here that as per the constitution, the prime minister and the opposition leader in National Assembly have to decide the name for the caretaker prime minister for at most three months in order to conduct the polls. The similar pattern is followed at the provincial level.
