Karachi: PTI lawmaker and television host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain funeral prayers was held after Asar prayers.
The funeral prayers was held following the hours-long deadlock between the authorities and family over the postmortem of
Hussain’s son Ahmed Aamir led the prayers at Jamia Majid at Abdullah Shah Gazi’s shrine. A large number of people, including Hussain’s family and friends, attended the prayers.
Former Sindh Governor and PTI leader Imran Ismail, Farooq Sattar and other notable personalities from showbiz and political fraternities attended the funeral.
Later, he laid to rest in the shrine’s courtyard next to his parents.
The 50-year-old televangelist passed away on Thursday. The news of his untimely death sent shock waves across the country.
Hussain had revealed in one of his recent video statements that he has booked a grave in the graveyard of Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine. His parents, politician Sheikh Liaquat Hussain and columnist Mahmooda Sultana are also buried at the same spot and he will be laid to rest beside them.
Earlier, the police handed over the body to his family after police surgeon, Dr Summaiya Tariq, had conducted the examination. Subsequently, the judicial magistrate allowed the family to proceed with the burial process.
Aamir’s body was examined in the presence of family and rescue services head Ramzan Chhipa.
