Karachi (June 8, 2017): Umrah agents accused Drop-box owners of charging extra money from Umrah pilgrims at Saudi consulate in Karachi on Wednesday.
Umrah agents dubbed Drop Box owners blackmailers and said that they were looting Umrah pilgrims in the holy month of Ramazan.
According to the detail, Saudi consulate in Karachi stopped collecting passport from June 6 to 9. The Umrah agents feared that pilgrims will have to face financial loss as their confirmed tickets and confirmed hotel bookings will go in vain, if they could not get visas on time.
They accused Drop-box owners of charging three to ten thousands rupees extra from each Umrah pilgrim in Islamabad and Karachi. Drop-box owners spread rumors about placing quota and missing stickers so as to create panic among pilgrims and to charge extra money. Whereas Saudi government has announced time and again that they will not place Umrah quota this year and will provide nonstop visas by Shawwal 15.
Umrah agents demanded of the Saudi government, Ministry of Religious Affairs and concerned authorities to play their role to resolve the issue.
