Lahore (March 05, 2018): The leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and newly elected Senator from Punjab Chaudhary Sarwar termed the news regarding his dual nationality baseless and categorically denied to have nationality of other country.
In his reaction on social media website Twitter, Ch Sarwar said that news regarding his dual nationality on social media concocted and unfounded.

“I was Britain national, however it was withdrawn after becoming Governor of Punjab in 2013, and now I am only Pakistani citizen” he clarified.

SC Halts Notification of 4 Newly Elected Senators
Earlier, the success of four Senators hanged in balance after Supreme Court’s order to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) not to issue notification of the success of four newly elected senators for having their dual nationality.

Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing case pertaining to dual nationality of judges and civil servants.
During the course of hearing, Secretary ECP apprised the top court that four newly elected Senators hold dual nationality, over this the SC ordered the electoral body to halt notification of their success.
