MIRPUR: At least 46 people sustained injuries after an earthquake hit Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)’s Mirpur city, Jhelum and adjoining areas on Thursday.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad recorded a 4.4-magnitude quake 6km north of Jhelum with the depth of 12km.
The quake was felt in Sahand Kakri area of AJK’s Mirpur city and its adjacent towns while minor tremors were also felt in Jhelum city and adjoining areas.
The tremor sent people running from their homes, offices, and schools screaming.
The rescuers around the quake-hit areas shifted the injured to the district headquarter (DHQ) hospital for medical assistance.
