Islamabad (November 12, 2018): The meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has concluded with discussion over the four-point agenda and approved 17 billion rupees financial Package for National career.
According to details, the meeting chaired by Finance Minister Asad Umer confirmed 17 billion rupees financial Package for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Members of the meeting — chaired by Minister of Finance Asad Umar — also decided to allocate 10 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) gas from the Bitrism field to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has also been allocated 12MMCFD gas from the Dhok Hussain fields.
The winter months – December to February – are expected to be very tough for urban residential consumers in terms of gas shortfalls amid commitments from the new government to ensure uninterrupted gas supplies to the industrial sector, particularly the zero rated five export industries, at highly subsidised prices.
On the other hand, PIA has been plagued by financial losses over the past years, and has relied on the government’s support at various times to continue operating. The airline accumulated losses of Rs356 billion with total liabilities amounting to Rs406 billion against assets of only Rs111 billion, it told the Supreme Court during a hearing of a suo motu case pertaining to its financial situation in June 2018.
