Islamabad (September 26, 2017): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted additional documents in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on reference filed against dissident MNA Ayesha Gulalai.

A five member-bench of ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan heard PTI reference filed for de-seating of Gulalai.

Gulalai counsel Barrister Masroor told the bench that PTI had submitted additional documents in ECP on reference against her client. The counsel said that he would submit his response to the additional documents.

The CEC asked PTI counsel as to why he submitted the additional documents with ECP instead of Speaker NA.  The counsel said that the documents were also submitted to Speaker NA too.On the request of Gulalai counsel for time to submit reply on documents submitted by PTI, the commission adjourned further hearing till October 4, 2017.

Later talking to media, Ayesha Gulalai praised Pakistan Army for being the only institution working in the country. She deplored the dragging of the army into politics by some politicians.

“Our troops are fighting for us on the frontline, away from their homes. They have eliminated terrorism from the country after tremendous sacrifice,” said Gulalai.

Gulalai, who hails from South Waziristan Agency, thanked the World Bank for announcing aid worth $114 million recently for the people of tribal areas. She chided the government over its failure to implement the FATA Reforms, and dismissed the idea of appointing a COO to oversee the process, saying “this is another trick by the bureaucracy to misappropriate funds”.National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has sent a reference against Gulalai to the ECP seeking to denotify her from the assembly for her violation of party discipline.

Gulalai alleged on August 1 that PTI chief Imran Khan had sent her inappropriate text messages, but did not reveal any other details to support her allegations. She had also alleged that the “honour of women is not safe” in the party.
