The CEC announced that as a case of similar nature was being heard by the apex court at present, so the ECP was adjourning hearing of the instant matter for indefinite period.

The CEC said that the references would be heard after the SC’s decision on the petition seeking disqualification of Imran and Tarin, which is pending before it currently.

Chaudhry in his reference had sought disqualification of the PTI chairman on the grounds that he submitted falsified financial statements regarding the purchase of his Bani Gala residence along with his electoral papers.

Daha had pleaded that Jehangir Tareen should be disqualified on the grounds of the allegations against him regarding an irregular write-off of an outstanding loan. The petition alleges that during Pervez Musharaf’s regime, Tareen had secured a Rs101 million loan from the Zarai Taraqiati Bank (ZTBL) for Tandlianwala Sugar Mills in his capacity as a federal minister. The loan was later written off in 2005.
