ISLAMABAD: The consultation process between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) was failed to commence for finalising appointments in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
ECP Sindh member Abdul Ghaffar Soomro and Balochistan member Shakeel Baloch were retired nine day ago but political differences led delay in initiation of consultation process between PM Khan and Shehbaz Sharif for the appointments.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader are bound to forward three names to parliamentary committee under Article 213-2A while the government was restricted to finalise the appointment 45 days after retirement of its members.
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser had formed parliamentary committee pertaining appointments of Chief Election Commissioner and other members.
Moreover, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that no contacts have been made so far to ECP appointments.
