ECP Hears Delimitation of Constituencies Objections

Islamabad (April 16, 2018): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started hearing of petitions pertaining to objections on preliminary delimitation of constituencies.

A three member bench of the commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan is hearing the petitions.

According to ECP, it has so far received more than 1000 objections on the delimitation of the constituencies throughout the country.

The objections were received from Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The process of accepting objections on delimitation from citizens throughout the country would continue up to April 24.ECP had established a facilitation centre at ECP Secretariat for the submission of objections and for facilitating the people regarding the initial delimitation of national and provincial assemblies. Five teams had been constituted to receive the objections pertaining to all four provinces, federation and FATA in the office hours.

The commission had also launched the details of objections on the proposed delimitation of the constituencies for 2018 along with proposed maps by the petitioners on its website for public convenience and transparency.

ECP had said that this facility would be helpful to all stakeholders to understand and get informed about the current status and the ongoing activities regarding the delimitation of constituencies.
