ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) On Monday rejected a reference seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan as member of the National Assembly on non-persecution basis.
The ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd) Sardar Raza Khan heard the reference seeking disqualification of PTI chief Imran Khan.
During the hearing, PTI chief’s counsel told the ECP that the applicant Hashim Bhutta did not come up to join the hearing in the Commission.
He added that the same case was already pending in the Supreme Court.
He pleaded the Commission to reject the reference. The Commission struck down the reference on non-persecution basis.
