ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s President Shehbaz Sharif and Vice President Maryam Nawaz to submit their replies in a plea filed against the latter.
A three-judge ECP bench took up the plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Malika Bukhari seeking disqualification of Maryam as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Vice President.
The filed petition claims that Maryam Nawaz could not assume any of the party’s office since she was declared a ‘convict’ by the court in a ruling.
At the outset of the hearing, Maryam’s counsel complained regarding not receiving a copy of the plea.
To this, the judge-panel issued directives of handing over the asked document to counsel representing PML-N.
The court then adjourned the hearing till June 25 and sought replied from Maryam and party president Shehbaz.
