Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended membership of as many as 154 parliamentarians and members of provincial assemblies over not submitting their asset details.
Sources of the ECP said that three of senate, 48 from National Assembly (NA), 52 of Punjab Assembly, 19 of Sindh Assembly, 26 of KP and six of Balochistan assembly membership have been suspended.
As per the ECP, senator Mussadiq Malik, Senator Kamran Michael, Senator Shamim Afridi membership have been suspended.
Besides that Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Special Assistant Ali Nawaz Awan, Minister of State Shabir Qureshi, Federal Minister Fehmida Mirza and Federal Minister Ali Zaidi membership have also been suspended.
According to the ECP, those who were suspended included Taimour Talipur, Imdad Patafi, Alam Dad Lalika, Khalid Maqbool Siddique, Maiza Hameed, Shiekh Rohail Asghar membership have also been suspended.
The ECP has written letters to Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly (NA), speakers of all four provincial assemblies and clarified that the suspended members can not attend any proceedings.
