ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 332 lawmakers on Wednesday for not submitting asset details to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to the election commission, the total number of members in the Senate, National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies is 1,174.
According to sources, ECP suspended the 322 legislators including information minister Fawad Chaudhry, Amir Kiayni, Raheela Magsi and few other prominent members.
“From National Assembly 72, Senate 20, Punjab Assembly 115, Sindh assembly 52, KP assembly 54 and 19 from Balochistan,” sources said.
According to sources the suspended lawmakers can’t attend the assembly session and take part in the legislation process.
At least 800 members have submitted asset details while the remaining, more than 350, have not fulfilled the requirement according to sources.
