Effects of Environmental Pollution on Human Mind

Web Desk (August 29, 2018): Environmental pollution has adverse effects on both the humans & the other environmental living and non-living things.  Environmental pollution is a worldwide problem & it causes hazardous effects on humans & natural resources.

Environmental pollution is the state of the buildup of toxic chemicals & poisonous gases in the breathing zone of the atmosphere of the earth which leads to many harmful disorders & discomforts to all the life species relying on natural resources of the environment. The different physical effects of pollution are such as the effects which are visible to us or direct physical damage to the environment & humans.

The different biological effects can be seen in the human population & on the different food chain of animals. The pollution produces biological effects by the destruction of the natural balance of environment.Sometimes pollution particles have heavy metal neurotoxins attached to them, which can kill neurons directly. But even when those particles don’t do immediate harm, they can cause damage by triggering an unquenchable immune response in the brain.

They also have other kinds of brain damage from air pollution, including damaged vasculature, and leaky blood-brain barriers. In older populations, this effect accelerates aging and increases the risk of dementia-related diseases.Children exposed to higher rates of air pollution had an increased risk of developmental disorders like autism and ADHD, neuro-behavioral problems, lower IQ etc. Air pollution remains a top global health threat despite decades of efforts to stop it.

Recent research from the World Health Organization (WHO) found that more than 80% of the world’s urban population lives in areas where air quality regularly fails health standards.
