Islamabad: Former accountability judge of accountability court of Islamabad Arshad Malik passed away due to the coronavirus.
Arshad Malik had contracted to coronavirus and was on ventilator in the Shifa hospital in Islamabad and his condition was critical for two days.
Family sources said that his funeral prayers will be offered in Mundara area in Punjab.
As an accountability court judge he had sentenced Nawaz Sharif seven years in jail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference in December 2018. The court also fined Nawaz Rs1.5 billion and US $25 million in the Al-Azizia reference.
After surfacing of the video scandal the IHC had suspended the Nawaz Sharif sentence and removed Arshad Malik from his post as judge of accountability court.
Arshad Malik had been sacked from his post as a judge by the administrative committee of the Lahore High C ourt.
Late Arshad Malik had challenged his sacking in the LHC.
