Ex PTI MNA Aijaz Chaudhry sentenced to prison for three years in fake degree case

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: A local court on Friday sentenced former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ejaz Chaudhry to jail for three years in fake degree case.

As the court pronounced its decision in fake degree case, police arrested the former lawmaker from the court premises and shifted to jail.

District and Session Judge Mandi Bahauddin sentenced the former lawmaker for possessing fake degree. The case was filed against the politician by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after Supreme Court disqualified him as member of National Assembly for fake degree and was subsequently de-seated.

After de-seating, a criminal case of forgery and presenting fake degree was filed and the D&SJ sentenced him to prison for three years and imposed Rs30,000 as fine.

It is to be mentioned here that Chaudhry was elected as MNA from NA-108 Mandi Bahauddin as independent candidate. After election he joined PML-N.

However, in 2014 Chaudhy left PML-N and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.  Later, Supreme Court disqualified him as MNA for possessing fake degree and de-seated him.
