Islamabad (March 07, 2018): The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday would hold proceedings into the application to extend the time frame of trail in the accountability court from six months.
It is pertinent to mention here that the apex court had given an ultimatum of six months to complete the trial in corruption references of the former premier which will end on March 13.
It is noteworthy that it is the same date when the extended term of the accountability court judge in Islamabad Mohammad Bashir will expire.
The request for grant of more time is believed to be filed by the NAB prosecutor general before a three-judge SC bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, who were also part of the JIT implementation bench. Besides, Justice Ahsan was also appointed a monitoring judge to supervise NAB’s working and oversee the accountability court proceedings.
