Faisalabad: At least five people burnt to death and eight others sustained burns injuries as the oil refinery at Malan Pur Jhang road catches fire while the fire doused after rescue work by 13 vehicles.
According to eyewitnesses, the boiler blast caused an eruption of fire in the factory situated in the area of Thekry Wala.
The fire brigade and rescue 13 vehicles taking part in rescue work extinguished the fire after four hours.
However, the rescue workers faced immense difficulties due to the intensity of the fire. The surrounding area was completely sealed in fear of the spread of the fire while the near-by areas were evacuated.
Those who sustained burns injure included Ameen, Abdul Razzaq, Naeem, Sarfaraz and Shahadat.
Assistant Commissioner City Ayub Bukhari oversaw the rescue operation while civil defence and heavy contingent of police remained on the spot.
