Faisal Mir’s Political Journey At A Glance  

Faisal Mir was born on August 14, 1967 in Lahore. Mir belongs to a literary and journalistic family. His grandfather, Mir Abdul Aziz was an Urdu, Persian and Punjabi language poet from Sialkot. Mir’s father, professor Waris Mir, was also a columnist and a critic of military dictatorship. He was a close aide of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Faisal Mir has a journalistic and political background. He is basically a businessman. Mir started his political career by joining Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and still complying with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s ideology. He received his early education from Government Central Model High School and completed B.Com from Hailey College of Commerce, Lahore. In 1990, he organized Peoples Students Federation (PSF) in Hailey College of Commerce.

Mir passed MA in Public Administration from Punjab University Lahore.As PPP washed out in general elections 2013 in Punjab, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made large scale changing in the local leadership.Mir could not get a major position in the party. Mir wanted to contest elections from NA-120 in 2013 but PPP gave ticket to Zubair Kardar, who could received only 2605 votes.Mir came under political vitalization and had to face many cases in Zia’s regime. He had contested elections -2013 from PP-154 Lahore and could get only 178 votes.
