Faizabad Sit-in Enters 18th Day  

Islamabad (November 23, 2017): Activists of religious groups continue to stage sit-in at Faizabad on 18th day, however the sources said that the government and the protesters have reached on an agreement but they have not revealed its details.

Sources told AbbTakk News that the meeting between Government and the sit-in Leadership was held for two hours in capital two days earlier, in which both the parties meticulously discussed the demands and government side offers in detail.Sources further told that dialogue committee head Pir of Golra Sharif Hussain Shah has played vital role to bring protestors to the dialogue table in order to end the days long issue. According to the sources, the agreement will be issued any time after signatures of all the relevant parties.

In another incident, at least four security personnel were injured on Wednesday when the protesters staging a sit-in at the Faizabad Interchange resorted to pelting stones at security forces deployed in the area. As a result of the skirmish, four FC and police personnel, including SP Saddar Amir Niazi, were injured. Police and FC personnel deployed in the area have been put on alert and extra reinforcements, including armored personnel carriers, have been summoned to the area and deployed at IJP road.Activists of religious groups continue to stage sit-in at Faizabad on the 18th consecutive day on Thursday, blocking Faizabad Interchange despite a notice by the Supreme Court.

The protest has resulted in severe issues for residents of the capital and Rawalpindi, who face traffic jams and mobility issues on a daily basis. At least two casualties due to ambulances being unable to cross the protesters have also been reported.

On the other hand, the Director General of military media wing ISPR, Asif Ghafoor said that the forces will follow what the government will decide regarding the end of religious parties sit-in at Faizabad.
