Fake Accounts Scam: Court Sends Suspect On 12-Day Physical Remand

ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court of Islamabad on Wednesday sent Dawoodi Morkas, an under-arrest suspect in Fake Bank Accounts case, on a 12-day physical remand.

During the hearing, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested the court to grant physical remand to the accused.

NAB prosecutor told that Daud was arrested for committing misappropriation in 2014 and 2015 in subsidy granted to the sugarcane farmers.

“Suspect has been found involved in corruption. He is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Sajawal Egro Farms. He had been running accounts of three sugar mills”, NAB prosecutor claimed.

The court then approved NAB’s plea of sending Daud Marks on physical remand for 12 days, ordering him to appear before the court on June 03.

On Tuesday, NAB Investigation officer Asad Janjua arrested Daud Marks from a courtroom of Accountability Courts of Islamabad.

He was apprehended during court proceedings where Accountability Court judge Mohammad Arshad Malik was hearing the case.

Suspect’s counsel complained before the court that his client was sitting at a bench when arrested him.

The counsel filed a petition seeking action against the NAB officer.

To this, Judge Arshad Malik responded that no accused will appear before the court if arrests will be made in such a way.

The court then summoned Asad Janjua in a personal guarantee.
