ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday dismissed the review petitions filed by employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Fake Degrees scandal case.
A three-judge bench of the Apex court headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard on review petitions of eight PIA employees who were found holding fake degrees.
While addressing counsel of the petitioners, Chief Justice hinted at issuing directives to file cases against the fake degree holders.
“What should the court review in its own decision? Supreme Court is being made fun of. Why should the court not order authorities to file cases against those employees who were found with fake degrees?” Justice Asif Saeed said.
On this occasion, the counsel responded that he approached the top court for reviewing its decision because other courts were not ready to interfere with the verdict.
“Since it is Supreme Court’s decision, none of the pertaining courts are agreeing to listen to us”, he said.
The court then announced its decision of dismissing the filed review petitions.
It may be pertinent to mention that PIA, on 29 December 2018, fired more than 50 of its employees inlcuding three captains for holding fake degrees.
