ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested an official of Interior Ministry in issuance of fake No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for bulletproofing and retrofitting of vehicles case after a local court rejected bail application of the accused.
Special Judge Central Malik Nazir heard the case regarding issuance of fake NOC to companies. Accused Muhammad Ashfaq, who work as steno-typist in the Interior Ministry, appeared before the court.
FIA told the court that a section officer of Interior Ministry had already been arrested in the case.
The agency opposed bail application of the accused Ashfaq. The court rejected the bail plea of the Ashfaq. Upon this, FIA Inspector Afzal Niazi arrested the accused from the court’s premises.
Afzal is facing charges of issuing 66 fake NOCs for bulletproofing and retrofitting of vehicles.
It is to be mentioned here that it is illegal to make or acquire a bulletproof vehicle without a specific licence that could only be issued by a special section within the Ministry of Interior.
