KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chief Farooq Sattar claimed that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) victory in the by-election on PS-127 constituency was a result outcome of rigging.
Addressing a press conference at party’s central election office, Sattar said that they were not given results of 52 polling stations and they were waiting for it. He said that they would accept defeat, if there was no evidence of rigging found.
Sattar said that it was a democratic practice that returning officer remained in touch with the candidates, but in the instant case the MQM candidate was not even given results of 52 polling stations despite repeated contacts . The MQM leader said that they were leading in 82 polling stations by 9500 votes. Sattar said that they had come to know that MQM received only 2500 votes in the 52 polling stations that was shocking and hinted at a conspiracy against MQM.
Sattar said that they were waiting for more details and will decide to go in the courts or to accept defeat within two days after evaluating all legal and other aspects.
He said Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-Haqiqi) supported PPP in the by-elections. He termed MQM-H as proxy of PPP.
