Farooq Sattar threatens to launch administrative units’ drive, if powers not given to LG

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) Chief Farooq Sattar threatened to launch a drive for 20 administrative units, if powers were not given to local governments.

While addressing to a public meeting at Nishtar Park, Sattar said that Karachi belonged to MQM and will remain of MQM. He said that today’s meeting had refused the claims of split in Karachi.

Sattar demanded of the government to place Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Master Plan, Building Control Authority, Solid Waste Management Department and other departments under the control of elected city mayor.

MQM-Pakistan chairman said that they will raise the case of masses in Sindh at every level. He said operations launched in Karachi without understanding its issues.

A large number of MQM’s activists, women and children were present in the first ever public meeting of the party after amendment in the party’s constitution.
