Fazl Urges Political Parties To Resolve FATA Issue

Karachi (December 13, 2017): Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rehman has on Wednesday urged political parties to resolve the FATA issue on democratic grounds.

Speaking to the press conference, the JUI chief held that the technical fault in the FATA reforms bill is on point adding that he didn’t cause the removal of bill from the National Assembly.

He further urged that FATA issue is a serious one and can only be unified through organized and serious resolve.

Fazl suggested that general public opinion should be seriously considered with regard to the issue assuring his support for FATA supreme council he added further that the problem should be solved democratically.

The JUI chief stressed that there is also prevalent view in FATA for a distinct provincial identity apart from unification with KP adding that for this reason, the consensus of general public should also be considered.Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rehman then suggested to satisfy the local tribes through negotiations rather than pressure and advised that democratic and constitutional values should be upheld.

Earlier, Delegations of tribal elders and youth jirga called upon the COAS at the Inter-Services Public Relations office today (Wednesday).

Chief of Army Staff General (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa assured delegations of Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) that the Pakistan army fully supports mainstreaming of FATA.

A detailed discussion with both delegations was held separately. The delegations acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan army’s sacrifices, efforts, and contributions to their respective views regarding the mainstreaming of FATA and the way forward.The COAS lauded tribal elders and youth for their determination and support to the Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism, the military’s media wing stated.

General Bajwa said he valued the views of the tribal delegations regarding the future of FATA. He said that achievements through sacrifices of brave residents of FATA are being consolidated, while the country transitions from relative stability to enduring peace.

The COAS also shared his engagement with the Afghan leadership for enhanced cooperation and security measures along the Pak-Afghan border.

General Bajwa advised the youth to continue playing their role towards peace and progress of FATA and Pakistan as they are the future leaders.Commander Peshawar Corps, DG ISI, CGS, and other senior army officers were also present.
