ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair a Federal Cabinet meeting today.

The federal cabinet meeting is happening after release of historic investigation report by FIA over sugar and wheat crisis on Saturday.

The meeting will deliberate upon a nine-point agenda. The Cabinet will also discuss the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19.

Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan says removing difficulties faced by people and providing facilitation to them is foremost and basic responsibility of the government.

In a media briefing she said Prime Minister is dispensing his duties as a sacred trust.

The Special Assistant said changes in cabinet reflect the resolve of Prime Minister against corruption and bringing transparency in government affairs. She said people have given mandate to PTI to eradicate corruption from the country.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan has made important changes in the federal cabinet.

Syed Fakhar Imam has been appointed Minister for National Food Security while Khusro Bakhtiar will be Minister for Economic Affairs.

Hammad Azhar has been given the portfolio of Minister of Industries while Azam Swati of Narcotics Control.

Resignation of Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has been accepted and Amin ul Haq has been appointed Federal Minister for Telecom.

Babar Awan has been appointed as Advisor for Parliamentary Affairs.

Shahzad Arbab has been removed from the position of advisor and Umar Hameed appointed Secretary of National Food Security in place of Hashim Popalzai.
