Federal govt not extending full co-operation for NAP implementation: CM Sindh

KARACHI:  Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that the federal government was not extending full cooperation to the provincial government for implementation of National Action Plan.

Charging the Sindh Apex Committee meeting, the chief minister said that National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) was not properly working.

The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Karachi, director General Sindh Rangers, Inspector General Sindh Police and other high-ups.

Briefing the committee, Home Secretary Shakil Mangnejo said that on the recommendation of Sindh government 62 banned outfits were included in first schedule, while a list of 94 seminaries located in Sindh was sent to Interior Ministry for inclusion in first schedule.

He added that 16 convicted terrorists were hanged while 19 cases were pending in military courts, adding that nine more cases have been cleared by the legal committee for trial in military courts.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sindh has expressed reservations over lack of full cooperation from the federal government for implementation of NAP.

Briefing media after the meeting, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Moula Buksh Chandio said that a letter would be sent to the federal government asking it to crackdown on arms factories and shops. He added that the 40 percent of the arms recovered so far have been locally-made.  He added that the federal government did not dare to talk about seminaries.
