LAHORE: The Minister for petroleum and natural resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said more or less gas theft continued around the country resulting into loss of 48b annually.
Addressing a presser in Lahore the Minister for petroleum Ghulam Sarwar said that Sui Northern and Sui Southern were faced with a deficit of 11 per cent and 13 per cent respectively worth of 48 billion per annum.
There is an urgent need for stoppage of wastage of gas mostly occurred in provinces of Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the minister emphasized.
“The deficit of Rs 157 billion of gas companies is the prime cause of hike in prices of gas and also a measure being taken to avoid Sui gas companies turn into another PIA and steel mills.
Regarding additional bills to consumers, the minister said that a hike of 143 per cent in gas prices is meant for only 5 per cent people while an error in a computer system was also responsible for additional billing in some cases.
