FIFA WC 2018: Pre-Quarter Finals To Start Today

Moscow (June 30, 2018): The next stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup is pre-quarter finals, following the group stage. Round of 16 will start today with the matches between France-Argentina and Uruguay-Portugal.

First match of ‘Round of 16’ will be played tonight between France and Argentina at Kazan Arena. It is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm PST.

France have never beaten Argentina at a World Cup. The fixture is the first between two previous world champions at Russia 2018.

France and Argentina have met 11 times. Argentina won six games, France two, with three draws.

Uruguay will play against Portugal in a last-16 game at Fisht Stadium. Match will start at 11:00 pm PST.Uruguay are the only one of the 32 teams who started the World Cup not to have conceded a goal yet. Whereas, Portugal have lost only one out of 27 competitive matches since Fernando Santos took over as coach in September 2014.

Uruguay have won the World Cup twice and were fourth in 2010. Portugal have never won it but were third in 1966 and fourth in 2010. They have met twice before, the last time in 1972, with one win for Portugal and a draw.
