FIH invites Malaysia to replace Pakistan in Hockey Junior World Cup-2016

LAHORE: International Hockey Federation (FIH) stopped Pakistan to participate in men’s Hockey Junior Word Cup-2016 and invited Malaysia to replace Pakistan in the event.  

FIH said in a statement,” FIH regrets that Pakistan’s men’s junior team will not be able to take part in this year’s Uttar Pradesh Hockey junior World cup even though they had officially qualified.

The statement further said, ” FIH’s decision follows considerable discussion with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and requests for confirmation that they had the necessary arrangements in place to be able to participate in the event.”

It is pertinent to mention here that FIH is headed by an Indian Dr Narendra Batra. He was of the view that Pakistan was  barred as it applied late for the visas.

FIH said that visas had been applied after the deadline and no accommodation was confirmed within the deadline. The PHF was not able to show that heir team would be able to travel to Luckhnow for the event, the statement said.

While PHF officials said that visa applications had been submitted on October 24th. They said that India used delay tactics to berried Pakistan from the event.

Hockey Junior World Cup-2016 will be played form 8 to 18th of December in Luckhnow.
