Finance Minister, IMF Mission Chief Discusses Tax Reforms

ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) new mission chief Ernesto Ramirez Rigo met with Finance Minister Asad Umar in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting issues related to fiscal, monetary and structural reforms were discussed.

Finance minister briefed IMF mission chief about the steps taken by the incumbent government for improving the economy of the country.

The minister said that the government would continue to address the macroeconomic imbalances and would take necessary corrective measures in this regard.

Earlier in a day, the International Monitory Fund (IMF) mission chief arrived in Pakistan to hold talks with Pakistani officials.

It is expected that Pakistan could avail a $ 6 billion bailout package from IMF. The IMF chief will be staying in Pakistan for two days.
