Firdous Hints At Extending Ramzan Relief Package Further

ISLAMABAD: The government has announced a Ramazan package worth 2.5 billion rupees for the provision of essential commodities to the masses at reduced rates through the Utility Stores Corporation.

Addressing a news conference along with the Managing Director Utility Stores Corporation, Prime Minister Special Assistant (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said under this package, nineteen essential commodities will be provided to the people at reduced rates.

She said if required, the Ramazan package could be extended to seven billion rupees. She said this relief package will remain effective till Eid ul Fitr.

The SAPM said that Rs 10 billion have been issued so far to the utility Stores under the package announced by the PM.

She said that the government is committed to providing relief to masses adding thatt the governmetn is ensuring the provision of cheap goods to masses through the utility stores.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said that overseeing procedures for the provision of essentials goods is being made more effective.

She said that 120 million will be benefited under the Ahsas program adding that the cash grant of Rs 12000 is being provided to affectees of the lockdown due to the COVID- 19.

MD utility stores talking at the occasion said that 19 essential goods will be provided on the 20 percent discount rate under the Ramzan Package.

The MD said that we are going to open mobile utility stores while more 200 utiltiy stores will be opened in the villages around the country.
