GAZA: At least four people on Sunday embraced martyrdom and 250 sustained severe injuries after thousands of Palestinians who took to streets to record their protest got fired at by the Israeli Army.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians rallied to the Israel-Gaza fence to mark the first anniversary of the Great March of Return protests in which around 200 Palestinians and an Israeli soldier have been killed.
They faced off against Israeli tanks and troops massed on the fortified perimeter.
Witnesses said that Israeli occupation forces resorted to deploying drones to drop teargas at Palestinian protesters to the east of Gaza.
Earlier on Thursday, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian medical volunteer in the occupied West Bank refugee camp.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of 18-year-old volunteer Sajed Mizher several hours after he was shot in the stomach by Israeli forces.
Mizher was shot while he was helping the wounded in the refugee camp. He was taken to hospital for surgery after he was hit.
For the past year, the Israel-Gaza fence has witnessed pinnacle bloodshed in which more than 260 Palestinians embraced martyrdom to the hands of Israeli sniper fire.
Nearly 7,000 others were shot and wounded, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
