Mumbai (June 26, 2018): First trailer of Akshay Kumar starrer sports drama film ‘Gold’ is released.
Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the role of a Coach, instead of a player.
Story of the movie ‘Gold’ is set during the period 1936 to 1948, however the film’s time travels around the first 2 years of India, after distribution of the subcontinent.

The story of the film revolves around the first hockey team of independent India, who won the Gold Medal by defeating the country, Britain in 1948 olympics.
It can be seen in the short trailer, how Akshay Kumar is trying to gather players by visiting multiple cities and plead them to play, in order to create first hockey team of India.
Akshay Kumar will be portraying the role of Bengali hockey coach, Tapan Das , who not only pleased Indian government in 1948 but also gathered hockey players to play hockey and beat Britain.
Mouni Roy will be the playing the role of Mouni Roy, who supports him in his mission.
This film will be produced by Riteish Sidhwani while Reema Kagti will be the director, who has previously directed movies like Honeymoon and Talaash.
Cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Vineet Singh, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor and Sunny Kaushal.

Film was shot in Britain and India and is slated to release on 15th August, Indian independence day.
