Flood Submerges Several Villages in Lahore

LAHORE: Numerous villages in rural areas of Lahore have been submerged after the floodwater broke through protective closure in Sutlej river at Khairabad location.

The incident took place owing to India’s act of releasing the water into Pakistan’s territory which added to the province’s plight after monsoon rains.

The water levels have risen in Sutlej river due to which floodwater of 60,000 cusec is passing through Ganda Sindh location.

According to the district administration, submerging of villages may take place for the third time too if the water level in the Sutlej river continues to escalate in the same way.
