New York (September 26, 2018): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has met with United States President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the 73rd UNGA session in New York on Tuesday.
FM Qureshi and Donald Trump agreed to reset Pak-US ties. While talking to state-run TV, Qureshi said that President Trump, during an informal meeting at a luncheon in New York, extended good wishes for Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The foreign minister said he apprised the US president about the persistent need to “rephrase the historic relations between Pakistan and the US”, adding that during the meeting he found the attitude of President Trump to be positive. During the gathering, Qureshi said he also met US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his wife. A special meeting with Secretary Pompeo was scheduled for October 2, he added. Meanwhile, FM Qureshi held a meeting with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the UNGA. During the meeting, views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest and enhancing of cooperation on various sectors.
During his visit, Shah Mehmood Qureshi will also attend several high level events and hold close to two dozen bilateral meetings with his counterparts from around the world.
On Wednesday (Today), he will address the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation’s Contact Group on Kashmir on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
On Friday, he will speak at the Asia Society where he will interact with American academics, foreign policy experts and students.He is also scheduled to meet with his US counterpart Mike Pompeo on October 2.
The high-level huddle with the US diplomat is one of the top agendas of Qureshi’s week-long visit to the US, which is aimed at following up on the progress made in the former’s visit to Islamabad earlier.
He will apprise the world over the fresh violence by Indian forces in Kashmir, regional and world situation during his address to United Nation General Assembly session on September 29.He will also hold about 40 meetings with other leaders from various countries during his stay.
Qureshi, who is in New York to attend United Nations General Assembly session, said, “Our Policy is Pakistan, Pakistan and Pakistan.”
FM Qureshi will address the General Assembly on 29 September.
