Fog, Smog, Rains in Most Areas, Snowing on Mountains

Islamabad (November 15, 2017): Most areas of the country continues remaining in the grips of fog and smog while rains and snow in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtawnkhwa province have turned the weather colder.

The snowfall on mountains in Kalam area of Swat has turned the weather chilly while the rains in Swat has turned an already cold weather colder.The rains have also increased the chill in Bannu where the power remained suspended for 20 hours.

Dense fog ruling Haroonabad and surrounding areas Faqirwali, Yateemwala, and Shaheed Chowk severely disrupted daily life and also affected the traffic flow on the highway, roads, and by-roads. The patrolling traffic police advised the motorists to avoid unnecessary traveling.During the last 24 hours rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills occurred at scattered places in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, north-east Balochistan and Kashmir.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that the weather in most parts of the country during the 24 hours ending 10:30 am tomorrow is expected to remain mainly dry weather  is expected. However more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, divisions upper FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.Foggy conditions are likely to prevail in plain areas of Punjab(Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Sargodha divisions) during morning and night hours, the Met Department added.During the last 24 hours ended 10:30 am today the rains recorded in various cities of Khyber Pakhtwankhwa province were: Peshawar was lashed by 56 millimeters of rains , Cherat 49mm, Bannu 43mm, Risalpur 42mm, Kohat 27mm, Lower Dir 17mm, Kakul 15mm, Malamjabba 13mm, Dir 7mm, Mirkhani 5mm, Parachinar 4mm, Saidu Sharif and Chitral 2mm, and Dera Ismail Khan, Kalam, and Balakot one millimeter.In Punjab province Murree and Noorpurthal received 13 millimeters of rain; Saidpur Golra and Bokra areas of   federal capital Islamabad received 11, 10, and five millimeters of rain; Rawalpindi received 12 millimeters of rain; Bhakkar 8mm; Mangla 7mm; Mandibahaudin, Okara, Jhang, and Jhelum 6mm, Kasur 5mm, Mianwali 4mm;  Toba Tek Singh 3mm; Bahawalnagar 3mm, Sargodha 2 mm; Joharabad and Sialkot cantt  2mm; Lahore 2mm.

In Azad Kashmir Kotli and Rawalakot received 12 millimeters of rain, Muzaffarabad 3mm, Garidupatta 2mm.

The Zhob and Barkhan areas of Balochistan received four and one millimeters of rain.
