ISLAMABAD: Shah Mehmood Qureshi has postponed his upcoming visit to Japan due to rising tensions between Pakistan and India. New dates for the foreign minister’s visit are expected to be released soon.
Shah was supposed to leave for a four-day visit, from February 24 to 27, to Japan to hold meetings with Japenese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe and other high officials of the country.
Sources have stated that the decision of delaying the visit came after discussing the issue with Japanese officials, and new dates for Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s visit will be issued soon with bilateral coordination.
It is to be noted that this visit to Japan was scheduled after a wait of long seven years. Furthermore, during the visit, talks on bilateral strategic, defence and business affairs were to take place.
